Travel Portfolio

The Traveling Bornsteins are accepting media invitations. In addition to our emphasis on luxury travel opportunities focusing on active adventures, cruises, secular and Jewish culture/history, and wellness, we are also illustrating the importance of embracing life when faced with an incurable brain cancer diagnosis.

In July 2020, Ira was diagnosed with glioblastoma. He has responded remarkably to his brain surgery, chemo/radiation treatments, second round of chemo treatments, and is now wearing an Optune device. Since his diagnosis, we have rode horses and snowshoed at elevation at a winter dude ranch near Steamboat Springs, embraced wellness at an Arizona spa resort, snorkeled off the coasts of Florida and Hawaii, indulged in a Suite Class cruise aboard the Celebrity Apex, and skied more than 20 times in 2020-21 and almost that amount in 2021-22.

If you are a traveler looking for ideas, pick a category and then scroll through the PDF versions of Sandy’s published stories. Each story will inspire you to learn more about a destination because Sandy shares her personal insights about a destination rather than repurposing other people’s words. Since pictures can frequently be more convincing, take a quick peek at the photo section.

Editors and destination representatives can also check out Sandy’s published stories on this page and our images on the Travel Photos page. These PDF versions of published stories showcase The Traveling Bornsteins worldwide travel experiences as well as Sandy’s award-winning NATJA stories.

When COVID-19 put our travel plans on a temporary hold, Sandy introduced readers to notable chefs and some of their amazing recipes. Visitors to TheTravelingBornsteins site can hopscotch from one region to another by trying a variety of recipes and also learning about notable chefs and restaurant owners. Food is often Sandy and Ira’s gateway to unfamiliar cultures.  The CHEF & RECIPE and the FOOD, WINE, AND BEVERAGE categories will be the place to find these tasty morsels of information.
